Biggest Picnic in Texas

Memorial Park Conservancy is thrilled to celebrate the Park’s Centennial in 2024, complete with a Texas-sized birthday party on Saturday, March 9! For the second year in a row, the Conservancy is hosting the Biggest Picnic in Texas, except this year, it’s the Biggest Picnic in Texas: 100th Birthday Edition! Presented by Chevron, this year’s event will feature picnic festivities, entertainment, food and drinks, cupcakes from our friends at H-E-B and so much more!

Join us on March 9 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a giant-sized celebration and wish the Park ‘Happy Birthday’ at this hugely popular family-friendly event! Free shuttle service will be provided from all Memorial Park parking lots to the event area. See map below.

ENTERTAINMENT: The event will feature an exciting and interactive kids’ zone with plenty of activities for children, including face painting, arts and crafts, and even a strolling magician!

Holly, the Jolley Trolley will also be joining the event – Holly is the happening hang-out for kids from 2 to 6 years old. She brings a magical world of play to your doorstep with a fun obstacle course, gym, and playground on wheels!

Houston Parks & Recreation Department is also partnering with us. They will be hosting a variety of healthy movement games for kids.

The birthday bash will also feature an appearance by Orbit, the mascot of the Houston Astros, and the Shooting Stars!

LIVE MUSIC: There will be live music playing throughout the event on the Biggest Picnic Stage, with music from a country music artist, a cover band and even a Shakira Tribute Band!

FREE SHUTTLES TO EVENT:

Memorial Park Conservancy will be providing a FREE shuttle service that will drop guests off right at the event. There will be shuttle stops throughout the Park. Shuttles will run from 10am until 4pm on March 9. You can head to our website to see our parking map and learn more.

EVENT POLICIES: 

• No drones, remote control aircraft or other similar devices
• All pets and service animals must be on a leash at all times
• No glass containers
• No outside alcoholic beverages
• No staking signs into the ground. Hand-carry signs only.
• No weapons
• No smoking
• No megaphones or any amplified sound devices
• No riding bikes or skateboarding inside event zone. Free bike valet available.
• No scooters, skateboards, or other similar devices

SHUTTLE RULES:

• Service animals only allowed on shuttles and must be on-leash at all times.
• No banners or signs
• No tents, pop-up shelters or shade devices
• No glass containers
