Seymour Lieberman Trail Ravine Bridges

The projects of the Memorial Park Master Plan, and its accelerated Ten-Year Plan component, promote connectivity and resiliency, improve cultural and recreational amenities; and are underpinned by extensive ecological restoration.

To improve the experience of Park visitors on the Seymour Lieberman Trail, three Ravine Bridges are being constructed away from Memorial Drive, and will serve as connectors for a new section of the trail. This new section will bring Park users through some of the most scenic and shaded areas of the 3-mile-loop. These bridges are situated above three ravines that connect with Buffalo Bayou. This area, situated amongst the trees, offers views of the Park’s native riparian landscape, further knitting together Houston’s unique and multifaceted landscape with the activities of Park users so everyone is able to enjoy Houston’s urban wilderness.

Invasive tree and understory species have been removed to promote a healthy riparian ecosystem. In accordance with Memorial Park Conservancy’s dedicated to ecological resiliency, removed materials will be adaptively reused and composted in our Biocycle facility, stormwater management will be addressed, and native plants will be maintained for continued health and habitat establishment.

Construction began on this project in the Summer of 2022 and is slated to be completed in Winter 2022.
