All Houstonians are welcome to Memorial Park Conservancy’s Land Bridge Tunnel Preview Party!
Memorial Park Conservancy along with project partners Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Kinder Foundation and Uptown Houston invite Houstonians for a FREE event celebrating Memorial Park’s transformational Land Bridge and Prairie project.
Attendees will enjoy an exclusive opportunity to walk through and explore one of the project’s four tunnels Tunnel 3 (the southwest tunnel) before they open to vehicular traffic. The family-friendly celebration will also feature a live DJ, fun photo opportunities, food trucks, giveaways, opportunities to learn more about Memorial Park’s Master Plan and Ten-Year Plan delivery and more!
About the Land Bridge:
Comprised of two separate 35-foot tall hills, the Land Bridge will serve as a major connector for Memorial Park users and wildlife between the north and south sides of the Park, offering new gathering spaces with scenic views of Houston and the project’s expansive prairie system.
Beginning in March 2022, vehicular traffic will traverse a new alignment of Memorial Drive via tunnels through the Land Bridge – two tunnels below each of the hills (one for each direction of travel). The tunnel openings will be phased, with the eastbound tunnels opening to traffic first, followed by the westbound tunnels. All tunnels will be opened for traffic in April. Together, the Land Bridge and Prairie comprise green infrastructure that will introduce a new 100-acre area for Houstonians to explore and enjoy, provide a safe crossing for Park users, reconnect wildlife corridors and help manage storm water for the benefit of the city.

This lot is off the Picnic Lane entrance to the right and will be used for event parking.
Land Bridge & Prairie Parking Lot — VIP & Media Parking
This lot is off the Picnic Lane entrance to the left. Due to ongoing construction, the capacity of this lot is significantly reduced for safety.
