Join us January 19 at Memorial Park’s ‘Scream Tunnel’ to cheer on Chevron Houston Marathon runners as they tackle the course and make their way through the Park’s Kinder Land Bridge tunnels. The morning event will be complete with a DJ, light show and all the noise makers you can think of! Memorial Park Conservancy will also provide light refreshments. Lawn chairs and handheld signs are welcome!

ROAD CLOSURES:

The following roads will be closed during the event:

Memorial Dr. (westbound) from Chimney Rock Rd. to Loop 610
Memorial Dr. (eastbound) from Loop 610 to Shepherd

Road closures will begin early in the morning at 6:00 a.m. Parking for the entire southside of Memorial Park will be closed to the public from 6:00 am until approximately 2:00 pm. However, access to the northside will remain open at Washington Ave. You can access the north side of the Park by using the following roads:

Wescott St.
Memorial Loop Dr.
Durford St.
Haskell St.
Arnot St.

Free parking will be available in the following locations:

Along West Memorial Loop Dr.
Lot next to Softball Field 3
Lot next to McConn Ballfield 1

Paid Parking will be available in the following locations:

West Sports Complex
East Sports Complex
Tennis Center parking lot
Golf Center parking lot
Fitness Pool parking lot

Memorial Park Conservancy, along with presenting sponsor H-E-B, invite the community to celebrate Lunar New Year during Live at Live Oak, an outdoor music event on January 25.

Following the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month in September and Diwali in October, this concert will mark the third event in our four-part music series. Each event is dedicated to a different cultural holiday, highlighting the rich diversity of our community.

The Live at Live Oak Lunar New Year celebration will feature a live performance by Unity Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe, a Houston nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals to learn, promote, and celebrate the art and culture of dragon dance, lion dance, and martial arts.

Indulge in complimentary treats, available on a first-come, first-served basis, and snag giveaways, while supplies last! Additional food items will be available for purchase.

Live at Live Oak, presented by H-E-B, will conclude its concert series in February with a final celebration for Black History Month.

Parking: Clay Family Eastern Glades has parking on-site. Paid parking ($2 for 3 hours) is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Clay Family Eastern Glades lot, Fitness Center lot, and Golf Course lot. Free street parking is available along Memorial Loop Drive. Refer to the Memorial Park parking map for more parking options.

Bring your loved ones, friends, and picnic blankets to enjoy a memorable evening of music and festivity. This series is free and open to everyone.

2022 Chevron Houston Marathon route through the Memorial Park Land Bridge & Prairie tunnels

February 7, 2022

On January 16, the Houston Marathon celebrated its 50th anniversary, and marathoners were routed through the nearly complete eastbound tunnels underpinning the Land Bridge & Prairie project. 1972 was the first year of the Houston Marathon, which took place solely in Memorial Park. The Conservancy was honored to once again host marathoners through Memorial Park for the historic route.
