Memorial Park gets $10 million boost to restore endangered Gulf Coast Prairie

As work continues on the new Memorial Park land bridge, the Wolff Foundation has stepped up to donate $10 million toward the creation of 45 acres of Gulf Coast Prairie, an endangered ecosystem, that will grow across the surface of the bridge and the basins on each side.
The Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Family Wolff Foundation donation will fund the prairie plantings and their ongoing care and seeding. Construction of the land bridge began in August 2020, as workers created new lanes for traffic to drive through two pairs of tunnels that eventually will form land bridges across the north and south sides of Memorial Drive.
It was the opportunity to be part of Houston’s “next big thing” that made Cyvia Wolff want to be involved.
